Mike Greenough
Managing Director

Mike has over 25 years experience within Allen plc having joined the business in 1974 as a quantity surveyor and progressing through the ranks to become Managing Director of the building division and a main board director during the period from 1978 to 1994.
Since 1994, Mike has occupied the position of acquisitions director and main board director with responsibility for identifying strategic opportunities within the group’s acquisition criteria, calculating and negotiation valuations, appointment of advisors and coordinating all aspects of due diligence and purchase. Acquisitions that Mike has been responsible for include DJ Ryan (Utility contractor) in 1994, Tidy Hire (Plant Hire) in 1995 and PS Turner (Building contractor) in 1997.
More recently, Mike led the MBO bid for the Allen Building Division, a £200m turnover operation and came 2nd place to Montpellier plc. He then followed this with an interim post at McNicholas Utilities Group where he was responsible for closing down the Irish and US operations and advising on company restructuring and subsequent sale.
During the period from January 2003 to June 2003, Mike was interim managing director at Sunley Turriff Construction where he was tasked with responsibility for re-structuring the business and eventually arranging for administration to ensure the solvency of other viable parts of the business.

John Meadows
Finance Director

John has been a finance director for the last 20 years within Allen plc/Speedy Hire plc and Sub Terra, a subsidiary of Thames Water.
John is an astute, knowledgeable and experienced finance director with a solid background in financial and business management. He is an effective communicator and motivator with a track record of achievement in implementing change successfully and efficiently based on a thorough understanding of the business process.
John has M&A experience having successfully negotiated the sale of DJ Ryans to McAlpines in 2001. He has systems implementation experience and has been responsible for introducing new accounting systems and procedures, together with budgetary control and management reporting; contract financial control monitoring systems; buying policies and procedures manual and personnel policies and procedures manual.

Dennis Lawless
Transport Director

Dennis was employed by Speedy Hire (part of Allen plc) for 13 years from 1987 to 2000. During this time, Dennis progressed from depot manager through to buyer, purchasing director, regional director, and general manager of Speedy Plant Hire to managing director of Speedy Plant Hire.
In 2001, Dennis became transport and plant director of Ryan Utilities when Speedy sold this business to Alfred McAlpine.
During Dennis’ employment with Speedy Hire, he has been responsible for developing the purchase policy for the transport fleet of 650 cars, 1,000 light commercial vehicles and 100 heavy goods vehicles.
On transferring to Ryan Utilities, Dennis continued his focus on fleet management, being responsible for the day-to-day running of the fleet and the control of all plant and equipments, including operational and reporting responsibility for three workshops and 20 heavy goods vehicles fitters.
Dennis’s primary role is to produce a transport fleet that matches the requirements of Toilet Hire UK. He reviews existing fleet by type and location and addresses any surpluses/shortages. He is also responsible for fleet disposals, procurement and maintenance.
